All University of Cincinnati students have access to the university’s FREE AWC (Academic Writing Center) any time, located in Langsam Library, room 401N. They offer in person AND online appointments and drop-in hours Monday – Thursday each week (they are closed every Friday). For information: AWC.
There are also specialized graduate student writing workshops: http://www.uc.edu/learningcommons/writingcenter/grad.html.
Tutors can help you with your writing structure, grammar, punctuation and style and can proofread for you.
The UC Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) in 610A Teachers-Dyer Complex on campus also offers English courses to our students, including summer courses in reading and writing that you can take before you arrive at UC: http://cech.uc.edu/centers/cesl/about.html.
Just want to practice your conversational English while you are at UC? The IPALS (International Partners and Leaders) meets weekly and offers international students a relaxed atmosphere in which to talk and play games with American students interested in international cultures.
Some of our students take a one or two month “refresher” class in English at our campus ELS English Language Center before starting the LLM in August. Learn more here: ELS.
